Glass, Jewellery

I am a lampwork artist and produce my own handmade glass beads. I began producing my own handmade glass beads over 15 years ago when I took a class at The Glass Hub in Bath. I fell in love with lampworking straight away. Lampworking is a type of glasswork where a torch is primarily used to melt glass. The glass I use comes in rod form and many different colours. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing, stretching, and shaping many layers with tools and hand movements on a steel rod to form a bead. They are then slowly cooled is a digitally controlled kiln, known as annealing. Annealing of glass is an important process of slowly cooling hot glass objects after they have been formed, to relieve residual internal stresses introduced during making of the bead. These one-of-a-kind glass beads I make are then used in making my bespoke jewellery. I mainly use sterling silver findings in my jewellery but also gold vermeil and different coloured copper wire and findings. I will have a selection of European style big hole beads, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, and other glass decorations.
