Pottery has been a hobby for many years but my job in busy G.P. practices didn't allow much time for it until I retired. I have a small pottery converted from a Georgian coach house in Long Ashton just south of Bristol. My work is stoneware (high fired pottery) and mainly wheel thrown, fired in an electric kiln to about 1250 deg. Cent. Each pot can go through this ordeal of fire 2, 3 or 4 times to get the desired result. In moments of quiet reflection I am constantly amazed and humbled by the thought that, not long before, each pot started life as a swirling lump of grey mud. Such is the magic of pottery!
