Pottery has been a hobby for many years but my job in busy G.P. practices didn't allow much time for it until I retired. I have a small pottery converted from a Georgian coach house in Long Ashton just south of Bristol.
My work is stoneware (high fired pottery) and mainly wheel thrown, fired in an electric kiln to about 1250 deg. Cent. Each pot can go through this ordeal of fire 2, 3 or 4 times to get the desired result.
ln moments of quiet reflection I am constantly amazed and humbled by the thought that, not long before, each pot started life as a swirling lump of grey mud. Such is the magic of pottery!

Mixed Media, Painting/Drawing
My art is inspired by a deep love of nature and wilderness and concern for the environment. Born to parents who were both painters, my interest in art began in early childhood. I studied painting in acrylic, oil and water colour. I also studied biology and psychology at Bristol university. After spending time living in Holland and the USA, I returned to North Somerset and spent many years observing and filming wildlife as a producer for the BBC Natural History Unit. I have been fortunate enough to live wild under the stars of the mid-west filming shy mustangs in America. I have been chased by alligators, dived with marine iguanas in the Galapagos, and been charged by an elephant in Africa. Such spectacular encounters have given me exceptional respect for wildlife.
In my art I strive to capture the character of wildlife as well as the drama and beauty of nature’s landscape and seascapes.
I also undertake commissions for animal portraits
