Sculpture Sculpting continues to be my main serious hobby and for me is one of life's passions! I feel that I have gone through the learning curve and am now starting to produce what will be regarded as my main body of work. This will be my third exhibition for NSAW. In the last two I was pleased to present some life-size figures. However, I have not been able to be as productive since then, so this time the focus is more on my smaller pieces. These comprise some busts, small figures, portrait reliefs and picture reliefs. In particular, there is a new picture relief showing St John the Evangelist at the moment of the crucifixion. I can sense a shift in the theme of my work towards being more spiritually orientated and believe this may become more evident as time goes by. For this reason, it seems appropriate to be exhibiting in a church. I will be sharing the space with two ceramic artists displaying their pottery (and there may be some paintings too)! Our work will be on show in front of, and at the sides of, the pews. We will be open at the core times when the church is not being used for services, and very much look forward to seeing you! Rachael Cawley
Painting/Drawing Rachael Cawley M.A Professional artist Rachael Cawley combines her love of tapestry and narrative into playful paintings embracing life in North Somerset. Her colourful images have an air of silence, a world observed from a solitary, often isolated viewpoint. Painting on board using acrylics allows Rachael to sand back through several layers to reveal the initial patterns that form the “tapestry” of both the location and the narrative. Each painting has its own story and these can be found on her website. Website: rachelcawley.com Instagram: @rachaelthepaint Facebook: rachael.cawley |
