Textile Art, Various I am a designer-maker, applied artist, researcher, lecturer whatever you want to call me - I stitch stuff by hand: fabric, paper, metal, vitreous enamel. I am fascinated and stimulated by materials and colour. Hand stitching is slow work, whatever the material, giving time for reflection and the development of ideas. I am fascinated by trying to get beneath the surface appearance of things, often using symbols and emblems to hint at what lies beneath the seemingly innocent and beautiful. I will exhibit a series of stitched flowers and seascapes that have been inspired by my immediate surroundings. I will offer Giclee prints of these works for sale. I also intend to hold a studio sale of various materials that are used in my professional practice as a textile designer-maker Both Stephen Jacobson and I live and work in a house overlooking the Bristol Channel, situated where the Severn Estuary flows into a stretch of water called, on the old sea charts, the Severn Sea. Our garden wall is the sea wall, where will exhibit our separate works demonstrating our reflections on the changing skies and seas. Website: www.janethaighherwork.com Instagram: @janethaighherwork |
