I take inspiration from my immediate environment often painting outdoors before developing larger or more abstracted works in the studio. Originally from rural Carmarthenshire, I currently paint around the River Severn from my home in Portishead, where I also organise and run portrait and landscape courses.
I often paint in oils using a limited palette to capture the beauty within this often bleak landscape.
Complementary to this I enjoy the representational challenge of portraiture. I have successfully completed a number of commissions and have exhibited at the Holburne Portrait Prize in Bath.
I have shown landscapes and portraits in many galleries and venues in and around Bristol and Bath including the RWA Autumn Exhibition and the Bath Society of Artists. I’ve also exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London with the Royal Institute of Oil painters and ING Discerning Eye exhibitions.

My name is Belle and I am a potter from Bristol. I trained at Clay College in Stoke-on-Trent, an intensive course designed to teach practical and in-depth exploration of the craft of pottery. As much as I shape clay, clay is what shapes me, and influences how I interact with it as a material. I approach my making with curiosity and play, paying close attention to how the clay responds to my hands and tools. I consider how I might encourage the marks of impressed stamps to sweep or fly across a stretched slab of porcelain, or how waves of clay might ripple up a wooden rib.
I seek to capture a lively and natural loose energy in my work and I draw greatly from surface quality. Whether throwing or hand building my aim is the same: to capture a sense of movement. The marks that I impress, stretch and cut help to instil a sense of me into the pots I make.

I draw and paint in watercolours, acrylics and oils. I also make prints and Touch Drawings. I like to immerse myself in the landscape so that I feel part of it and feel closer to the place. Landscapes can resonate with our inner world and reveal some of the mystery of existence to us.
I studied Fine Art at Central St Martins and Slade. I participated in Rose Frain's Womens Art Weeks, where I developed a more intuitive, imaginative approach to art making. During an NHS career in Art Therapy I continued to make images and attended courses at printmaking studios and at The Essential School of Painting. I studied Touch Drawing with Deborah Koff-Chapin in Findhorn, Seattle and online.
I now offer Touch Drawing workshops and welcome commissions to paint portraits of people in their own garden or favourite parkland.

With a background as a Graphic Designer and a successful business selling graphic prints of the local area, Sarah has returned to her love of painting. Motivation to paint comes from noticing the dramatic and the colourful in a landscape and a desire to do more than take a photo, to somehow capture in paint the intense colours and the atmosphere of a place. She paints plein air whenever possible and finishes works in her studio using acrylic and oils.

Inspiration comes in many forms but I have always been drawn to people, places and nature. Sometimes I combine all three! I draw influence from varied sources, as inspiration truly is all around us, but my current art style is shaped by environments and contours, subculture, expression and style, (and splash of humour can also be found in some of my pieces)!
Alongside the artwork I produce for general release I also do lots of private commissions and am often working variety of commercial illustration projects.
There are also fellow creatives that I find extremely inspirational and these include M.C. Escher, William Hogarth, Brian Bolland, Eric Fischl, Mode2, Charles Griffin, Rodney Matthews and Barney Farmer - to name but a few of many more!
My work is hand drawn. I sometimes colour with ink and sometimes I scan my drawings and colour them in Photoshop using a digital drawing pad and pen.

Liane Stevenson is a professional artist living and working in North Somerset.
She trained in Fine Art, sculpture at UWE, and has continued to work within the artistic environment since then.
Her work divides into three main areas, portraiture, landscape, and work inspired by the natural world.
In her portraiture Liane is not concerned with a photographic likeness, but rather to capture a glimpse of the character of her subject and make a connection between the sitter and the viewer.
In her landscapes she is inspired by the rhythms found in the natural and agricultural landscape, and in the architectural geometry of the cityscape. She uses mixed media and collage to represent and enhance the decorative aspect of these qualities, whist maintaining a sense of place.
Liane’s interest in the natural world is really a celebration of the beauty and diversity of the World's fauna. She hopes to inspire her viewers to value and conserve our environment and the creatures within it.
More recently she has been working with wood carving, a discipline she hopes to explore further.
