Janet Haigh

Textile Art

I am a professional designer-maker; applied artist, researcher, lecturer whatever you want to call me - I stitch stuff by hand: fabric, paper, metal, vitreous enamel. I am fascinated and stimulated by materials and colour. Hand stitching is slow work, whatever the material, giving time for reflection and the development of ideas. I am fascinated by trying to get beneath the surface appearance of things, often using symbols and emblems to hint at what lies beneath the seemingly innocent and beautiful. I will exhibit a series of stitched flowers and sea-scapes that have been inspired by my immediate surroundings; and Giclee prints of these works for sale. Also a Studio Sale of various fabrics with lengths of cotton prints by the Kaffe Fasset Collective.
