Textile
I am a designer-maker, applied artist, researcher, lecturer whatever you want to call me - I stitch stuff by hand: fabric, paper, metal, vitreous enamel. I am fascinated and stimulated by materials and colour. Hand stitching is slow work, whatever the material, giving time for reflection and the development of ideas. I am fascinated by trying to get beneath the surface appearance of things, often using symbols and emblems to hint at what lies beneath the seemingly innocent and beautiful.
I will exhibit a series of stitched flowers and seascapes that have been inspired by my immediate surroundings. I will offer Giclee prints of these works for sale.
I also intend to hold a studio sale of various materials that are used in my professional practice as a textile designer-maker
