David F Cooke Photography David F Cooke Photography David F Cooke Photography 1/1 David was a keen photographer both at school and at Leeds University, where he contributed to the weekly student newspaper. After graduating and subsequently getting his PhD in combustion science, he worked in industry and local government before joining the Open University as an academic. For the next few years, photography was neglected until he was given a Nikon D70 for his birthday in 2006. The love of making images was rekindled and he concentrated his spare time in developing his photographic work. He is now a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) specialising in Visual Art and he holds an EFIAP (Excellence, International Federation of Photographic Art). He was a Trustee and member of the Council of the RPS as well as Chair of its Education Committee. He Chaired the RPS Digital Imaging Group and has been editor of three of the RPS special interest Group magazines. Caroline Wait Enamels Caroline Wait Enamels Caroline Wait Enamels 1/1 As an artist, I have spent 17 years perfecting my skills as an enamelled copper and mixed media artist. The versatility of enamelling and the ability to achieve bright, vibrant colours continually inspire me. I love incorporating these colourful creations into everyday objects to produce unique pieces of art. A quote that deeply resonates with me is, "You watch it cool down slowly from white or red heat to deep blues, solemn violets, juicy greens, subtle lilacs, glowing orange, with a pure unbroken glaze for the surface, and then you know that your labour is not in vain, your work beautiful, it will never fade" - Edith Dawson, Enamels. During the lockdown, I delved into the world of mixed media and discovered a love of creating my crazy grey-haired ladies. I enjoy blending them with unusual objects, providing me with an opportunity to frequent vintage fairs and unearth hidden treasures. Clare Orr Painting/Drawing Clare Orr Painting/Drawing Clare Orr Painting/Drawing 1/1 Clare Orr is a local Artist who has gained qualifications in both fine art and public art as a mature student at the Royal Academy of Art in Bristol. Working in oil and watercolour the main focus of her work is landscape, seascape and nature. Her watercolour work is stylised using techniques of masking fluid, sea salt and washes to create texture and depth. By picking out the linear aspect of the countryside made by the footpaths, hedgerows and hills she produces work which has a printlike quality. Her work has been influenced by Japanese wood blocks prints. Her work in oils bring detail into the miniature scenes she creates. Clare uses a large collection of photographs and sketches of the surrounding landscape as inspiration for her paintings.
