  • Emma Garland (Little Red Apple) | North Somerset Arts

Emma Garland (Little Red Apple) Jewellery Emma Garland (Little Red Apple) Jewellery Emma Garland (Little Red Apple) Jewellery 1/1 I make geometric wooden jewellery, using sustainably sourced walnut wood. My work is influenced by my love of clean, crisp design and simple shapes. I enjoy using pops of cheerful colour to contrast with the wood. The wooden pieces I use to make my jewellery are laser cut by a Bristol company who translate my hand drawn sketches into real life wooden shapes. I then sand, paint, varnish and assemble my jewellery by hand in my garden studio in Portishead. I also design greetings cards for all occasions. I make the original art work as paper collages, incorporating my own pattern designs, which are then digitally printed on to eco-friendly card. • Liane Stevenson | North Somerset Arts

Liane Stevenson Mixed Media Liane Stevenson Mixed Media Liane Stevenson Mixed Media 1/1 Liane Stevenson is a professional artist living and working in North Somerset. She trained in Fine Art, sculpture at UWE, and has continued to work within the artistic environment since then. Her work divides into three main areas, portraiture, landscape, and work inspired by the natural world. In her portraiture Liane is not concerned with a photographic likeness, but rather to capture a glimpse of the character of her subject and make a connection between the sitter and the viewer. In her landscapes she is inspired by the rhythms found in the natural and agricultural landscape, and in the architectural geometry of the cityscape. She uses mixed media and collage to represent and enhance the decorative aspect of these qualities, whist maintaining a sense of place. Liane’s interest in the natural world is really a celebration of the beauty and diversity of the World's fauna. She hopes to inspire her viewers to value and conserve our environment and the creatures within it. More recently she has been working with wood carving, a discipline she hopes to explore further. • Hilary Kington | North Somerset Arts

Hilary Kington Mixed Media Hilary Kington Mixed Media Hilary Kington Mixed Media 1/1 I am a wildlife watcher, conservationist, painter and printmaker with a passion for our local salt marshes. In our increasingly fragile world conservation and education is now a key part of my work. We are lucky to have these precious places but they are in decline and their future hangs in the balance. My hand-pressed, woodcut prints tell the stories of these wetlands and their endangered wildlife. I often inscribe messages into the woodcuts so people know why they need protecting. It is only when we understand the problems that we can help to protect the world around us.
