- Matthew Fackrell | North Somerset Arts
Matthew Fackrell Painting/Drawing Matthew Fackrell Painting/Drawing Matthew Fackrell Painting/Drawing 1/1 A recent graduate from North Somerset, I spend my quiet moments between professional and personal time creating – frequently with acrylic, among other mediums. Training formally in Social Anthropology and Sustainability (BA, MSc) after studying art in school, my focus within both painting and everyday photography often coincides with an interest in people and a sense of place, using visual media to explore moments and interactions. Currently, I am enjoying exploring landscapes and atmospheres, with particular attention to how light plays with objects, surfaces, and other presences. At time of writing, I have most recently exhibited as part of Somerset Aspects at ART GALLERY & STUDIO by Aga Kubish. - Val Newman | North Somerset Arts
Val Newman Painting/Drawing Val Newman Painting/Drawing Val Newman Painting/Drawing 1/1 I have loved painting and drawing all my life. My main focus has been nature, depicted in various media. I have a strong sense of place, often reflecting the history in my work (particularly my collages), and am also fascinated by the play of light and flickering shadows, which can change the mood of a scene in seconds. I am currently working on a series of paintings after a visit to Kew Gardens, where the many layers of reflections in the lily ponds in the Princess of Wales Conservatory intrigued me. 2014 HND in Painting Open College of the Arts. 2018 First Class Honours Degree in Contemporary Art and Professional Studies, Bath Spa University 2021 – 2023 Tutor for Seasons Art 2010 to Present. - Eric Maggs | North Somerset Arts
Eric Maggs Painting/Drawing Eric Maggs Painting/Drawing Eric Maggs Painting/Drawing 1/1 Eric is an acrylic landscape artist from North Somerset who transcends traditional depictions of scenery through his adept use of colour and texture. His ability to convey movement, whether it be the rustling of leaves in the wind or the undulating flow of a river, enables him to breathe life into his canvases, capturing the essence of movement beautifully. What sets Eric apart is not just his technical skill but his intuitive understanding of how colour and texture can communicate emotions. The warmth of a sunset, the tranquility of a misty morning, or the intensity of a storm are all translated onto his canvases with a masterful touch. Through his acrylic landscapes, Eric invites us to feel the beauty and movement inherent in the natural world; more than static scenes, they become living, breathing expressions of his connection to the world around him.
