  • Angela Uren | North Somerset Arts

Angela Uren Painting/Drawing Angela Uren Painting/Drawing Angela Uren Painting/Drawing 1/1 Angela Uren My paintings are in direct response to continual change, in the landscape, the seasons, my surroundings and connections, from Somerset to Cornwall. Applying oil paint onto canvas with knives and fingers helps me to connect to and interpret the memory of that time and place. To respond to the feeling rather than visual representation of the landscape. This is both very personal and individual. • Elly Burlow | North Somerset Arts

Elly Burlow Ceramics Elly Burlow Ceramics Elly Burlow Ceramics 1/1 Growing up in Burnham-on-Sea close the sea beach with wonderful views left me with an interest in nature and onto studying biology at University. Whilst my mainstream career was in software, I never lost that passion in nature. Ceramics was an integral part of my upbringing and since retiring I have been able to focus on my two passions, nature and ceramics between family commitments. I prefer hand building and sculpture making individual pieces that are realistic but have their own unique style. Hand-building because it is meditative and relaxing; it’s what I need after a stressful career. However, teaching small groups of people is what gives me most satisfaction. • Ian Price Art | North Somerset Arts

Ian Price Art Painting/Drawing Ian Price Art Painting/Drawing Ian Price Art Painting/Drawing 1/1 I take inspiration from my immediate environment often painting outdoors before developing larger or more abstracted works in the studio. Originally from rural Carmarthenshire, I currently paint around the River Severn from my home in Portishead, where I also organise and run portrait and landscape courses. I often paint in oils using a limited palette to capture the beauty within this often bleak landscape. Complementary to this I enjoy the representational challenge of portraiture. I have successfully completed a number of commissions and have exhibited at the Holburne Portrait Prize in Bath. I have shown landscapes and portraits in many galleries and venues in and around Bristol and Bath including the RWA Autumn Exhibition and the Bath Society of Artists. I’ve also exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London with the Royal Institute of Oil painters and ING Discerning Eye exhibitions. • Tina Dodd | North Somerset Arts

Tina Dodd Various Tina Dodd Various Tina Dodd Various 1/1 An artist whose main interest is in the landscape. Tina’s inspiration comes mostly from the Mendip Hills, where she has lived with her husband for nearly 30 years, and often involves working her way through lots of iPad photographs taken on her walks or through the window on car journeys. This has become an important part of her creative process. “Colour can be a distraction for me and so I work from the images to produce monochromatic drawings in charcoal or graphite. These materials help me achieve the wonderful contrasts of light and dark that I see in the landscape.” In recent years Tina has been exploring printmaking techniques, in particular monotypes, as a medium through which she is able to achieve the changing moods and contrasts of light and dark that she finds. Further afield nostalgic memories of holidays on Exmoor and the dramatic landscape of Dartmoor have inspired Tina to find a way of expressing those feelings. Given that drawing is at the heart of her creative practice yet wanting colour to play a part, Tina finds that mark-making with vibrant pastels allows her to do this in a manner that suits the way she likes to work. Tina has had work selected for, amongst others, the Friends of the Royal West of England Academy exhibitions in Bristol and the Bath Society of Artists Open Exhibitions. She runs regular art classes in her village and is a visiting art tutor to various local art groups. More information can be found on Tina’s website. • Anna Warsop | North Somerset Arts

Anna Warsop Painting/Drawing Anna Warsop Painting/Drawing Anna Warsop Painting/Drawing 1/1 As an artist, I am inspired by the aerial landscape and maps, which allow me to view the world from a unique perspective. Through my paintings, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and awe, inviting the viewer to see the world through my eyes. My work combines elements of abstraction and realism, blending the intricate details of maps with the flowing lines, patterns and textures found in nature. My process derives from photographs taken from commercial flights, satellite imagery and the study of maps. I use a varied combination of acrylic paint, collaged hand made papers, photographs, and mono prints, often sanding back the surface and applying glazes to create a rich surface. I gained BA hons in Fine Art (painting) first class from UWE, returning to gain an MA in multi disciplinary printmaking in 2008. I have exhibited nationally and internationally in selected exhibitions including, Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, Mall Gallery Originals Contemporary Printmaking Exhibitions, RWA Annual Exhibitions, and Marzia Frozen gallery Berlin. • Wendy Hope | North Somerset Arts

Wendy Hope Mixed Media Wendy Hope Mixed Media Wendy Hope Mixed Media 1/1 Wendy Hope spent her first career bringing creativity to schools, as a teacher and head teacher. She was awarded the Artsmark Gold Award by the Arts Council before moving on to develop her work as an artist and writer. As well as drawing, painting and textiles, Wendy creates large scale sculptures using glass from Murano and neon gas - not LEDs. Inspired by her sketches of dancers and by themes such as Memories and Time, the glass is handcrafted over hot flames to her design. Infusing the glass with gases produces stunning coloured lights which Wendy mounts onto a background of steel or natural wood. Artefacts are often added to enhance the theme and these can be personal to the client to ensure every artwork is original. These artworks are perfect for large walls and staircases and bring a Wow! to homes and businesses. HopeNeon artworks were exhibited in the OXO Tower Wharf on London’s South Bank in 2023. Commissions accepted. Website: https://www.HopeNeon.com Facebook: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/HopeNeonBristol Email: wendyhope22@gmail.com

  • Olwyn KW | North Somerset Arts

Olwyn KW Ceramics Olwyn KW Ceramics Olwyn KW Ceramics 1/1 I was intrigued by clay from an early age. After a ceramics degree and teachers certificate I taught in a wide variety of schools for but finally became disillusioned and left teaching. A successful career in IT and Help Desk management followed before taking a break to care for my family. I combined homemaker duties with work as an animation assistant, learnt sign language, facilitated a variety of art projects in local schools and set up a pottery in a prison. My first love remained clay so I now work in the converted basement of our home overlooking the Bristol Channel. My inspiration comes from a variety of natural forms, exquisite flowers to robust seed heads; lidded forms reference artichokes, open vessels are inspired by water lilies. I enjoy the challenge of working with porcelain, it requires exact handling at each stage of production. It has great strength and yet may appear elegant and delicate. My work exploits the subtle differences that can be achieved in form and texture when using porcelain. Pots are thrown on the wheel, intricately carved, then sections are polished or glazed to create contrasting surface areas.
